How to Prepare Nongshim Rice Noodles

A small cup of noodles today, which will be a bit easier on the waistline compared to most of the other cup noodles I review. Nongshim’s Rice Noodles (Ssal-guksu in Korean), is a tasty snack with noodles made from rice and plenty of chicken. This might be a great option if you’re searching for a chicken noodle soup substitute that contains rice noodles, instead of either wheat or egg noodles. I seriously doubt there are any health benefits from eating rice noodles, but at least we have some more options. If you’re looking to make some of these micro-noodles, then I have you covered with today’s how-to guide for Nongshim Rice Noodles.

Step 1.) Partially open the lid and remove the two packets from inside

Step 2.) Add the dried flakes packet

Step 3.) Add the powdered soup packet

Step 4.) Boil some water and fill the cup up to the fill line

Step 5.) Close the lid and wait patiently for 5 minutes

Step 6.) Mix and Enjoy!

Interestingly, Nongshim’s Rice Noodles take 5 long minutes to cook. I thought it was because of the rice noodles, but these aren’t your ordinary noodles made from rice. They have added potato starch for some reason… I’m not exactly sure why Nongshim decided to add in the potato starch, but it’s an unfortunate find. I was hoping for a more authentic cup of instant noodles. Either way, expect the process for preparing these noodles to take an extra minute or so, which isn’t too long I guess.
