When ramen noodles just aren’t cutting it anymore for your carb intake, Ottogi’s Ddeok Ramen is here to double your carb load with both ramen noodles and rice cakes. Great for bulking up or even post-endurance race, these noodles will make sure your insulin hits unfathomable new heights. These noodles even feature a spicy flavor, because… you’re going to need the extra metabolic boost if you’re going to burn through all of this glucose. I’m not much of a fan of plain rice cakes, but if you’re looking for new textures to go along with the already pleasing texture of ramen, then these might be just for you. South Koreans love to mix up their carbs and these noodles just might be the gateway ramen that I need to start a new addiction. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s make some noodles and ddeok (rice cakes)!
Step 1.) Partially open the lid and remove the two packets from inside
Step 2.) Add the powdered soup packet to the cup
Step 3.) Add the rice cakes to the cup
Step 4.) Boil about 370ml (just over 1 1/2 cups) of water and fill the cup up to the fill line
Step 5.) Close the lid and wait patiently for 4 minutes
Step 6.) Mix and Enjoy!
The directions for making Ottogi Ddeok Ramen weren’t too bad! They were very clearly outlined on the packaging, which is nice. Also, if you’re looking for an alternative way to cook these noodles, you can cook them in the microwave. The directions say to nuke them for 2 1/2 minutes after adding the hot water. After that, they should be absolutely perfect and ready to enjoy!
So, what is your favorite kind of rice cake? Do you prefer ramen noodles or rice cakes as a tasty carbohydrate? Let me know in the comments!
