What terrifies me most about this cup of noodles is the fact that Ottogi intentionally put “real” in the title of this product… What exactly is “real” cheese? And, how is it different from cheese (the stuff made from actual milk)?
What really sends shivers down my spine is the question, “What is artificial cheese, then?” If this doesn’t scare the bejesus out of you, then you’re significantly more intrepid than I…
Ottogi Real Cheese Ramen is a cup of noodles that features “real” cheese flavor (whatever that means…), a mixture of macaroni with ramen noodles, and some spam like miniature meat slices. If that doesn’t get you excited, I don’t know what will… This definitely seems like a cup of noodles for the adventurous cheese lover. So, if you’ve got a passion for cheese and picked up this pack of noodles, let’s get down to business.
Step 1.) Partially open the lid and remove the 2 packets from inside
Step 2.) Pour the powdered soup packet into the cup
Step 3.) Boil about 320ml(~1 1/3 cups) of water and fill the cup up to the fill line
Step 4.) Cover and wait patiently for 4 minutes
Step 5.) Remove the lid and add the “real” cheese sauce packet
Step 6.) Mix and Enjoy!
That’s all there is to it when creating this cheesy dream of noodles! I still think Ottogi has some explaining to do. Something doesn’t feel quite right when a food company needs to tell us that something is real on the packaging…
So, what do you think “real” cheese is? Is normal cheese “real, real” cheese, then? Or, do those two cancel each other out and we just get cheese, once again? Let me know down in the comments!
