A classically designed cup of instant noodles from Samyang today. I’m always happy to review Samyang products that are outside of the Buldalk series. People tend to rave about their ultra spicy ramen, but never talk about their other products. This just so happens to be one of those. Samyang Tuigim Kalguksu isn’t your typical lethal cup of noodles that Samyang is known for. It’s a bowl of instant noodles based on the Korean dish, kalguksu, which is a bowl of knife cut wheat flour noodles in a delicious broth. The tuigim part of these noodles means “fried,” which makes this dish a bit special. It features little chunks of fried batter that are dispersed into the liquid like tiny islands. Typically, kalguksu, does not include these as an ingredient in the traditional sense of the dish. Therefore, Samyang decided to kick this one up a notch with these plus a little extra added spice. If you’ve picked these up, it’s time to hop on the ramen train, because we’re about to make some noodles with fried bits by Samyang!
Step 1.) Partially open the lid and remove the two packets from inside
Step 2.) Add the powdered soup packet to the cup
Step 3.) Boil some water and fill the cup up to the fill line
Step 4.) Cover the lid and wait patiently for 4 minutes
Step 5.) Add the finishing soup packet
Step 6.) Mix and Enjoy!
Well, that was something different! The finishing packet was something a little outside your normal ramen noodles preparation protocol. It was probably a good call to save that for last, because you don’t want those pieces of fried goodness to go too soggy. That just wouldn’t be fun to eat!
Do you like the little extra crunchy bits that fall off of your fried food? Would you have ever thought to put those into a cup of instant noodles? Let me know in the comments!
