A spicy cheese ramen made specifically for a GS25 Convenience Store near you. YouUs Maeun Cheese Bokkeum Myeon is another attempt at a cheese ramen that most likely also tastes like “carny cheese.” If you’ve read some of my other articles about other cheesy ramen noodles, then you’ll know that I’m not a fan of that orangish yellow pseudo-cheese they put on nachos. It’s not cheese for God’s sake! It’s an emulsified chemical mass that neither tastes like nor has the consistency of real cheese. Me hate! I’m hoping that these noodles will end up breaking away from the pack with an improvement on the cheesy flavor. I have yet to give up hope on a cup of noodles from Korea that either tastes like cheese or has the delicious artificial flavor of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese that we all love so dearly. I suspect you just stopped by your local GS25 or Asian market and have one of these cups clasped in your claws, so let me show you how make these noodles…
Step 1.) Partially open the lid and remove the two packets from inside
Step 2.) Boil enough water and fill the cup up to the fill line
Step 3.) Close the lid and wait patiently for 4 minutes
Step 4.) Poke holes in the cup for draining
Step 5.) Drain most of the liquid leaving only 3 or 4 spoons of the liquid
Step 6.) Add the liquid soup packet
Step 7.) Add the powdered soup packet
Step 8.) Mix and Enjoy!
Mega cheesy, but not so easy… These noodles take some work to make! While there are worse noodles with a more lengthy preparation time, these noodles will set you back a few extra minutes. This is typically the case with any form of bokkeum myeon (stir-fried noodles). Let’s hope our extra spent minutes are worth it today!
Do you have fond memories of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese from your childhood or maybe even your adult life? Do you get cravings for artificial cheeses? Let me know in the comments!
