YouUs Yuk-Kal is a cup of instant noodles that makes an attempt to combine the best of Kalguksu and Yukgaejang into a cohesive ramen-filled package. Just to let you know, combining these two is a match made in heaven, but doing so with instant ramen noodles seems… a bit risky. I can’t imagine an instant version of this merged dish that could possible do each of the traditional dishes justice. YouUs might have conquered the impossible, but we’ll known more after I lay some judgement on these noodles tomorrow.

To tell you a little about each dish, Kalguksu is typically a seafood noodle dish that contains knife-cut wheat noodles. Yukgaejang is where this dish gets its red-hot spiciness. It’s a spicy beef soup, that’s “oh, so spicy and delicious.” So, you’re probably holding the instant amalgamation of these two dishes in your hands right now in tears with an empty belly, so I’ll jump right into it today and get on with this how-to guide!

Step 1.) Partially open the lid and remove the two packets from inside

Step 2.) Add the powdered soup packet to the cup

Hmm… another “fresh packet” today in these noodles. I’m not too sure this packet was even warranted. I was left confused that none of the ingredients other than the liquid sauce were in that packet. Those large fresh packets are great for keeping kimchi and chunk sauce fresh or at least moist, but this one contained only a thin liquid… Other than that, the process for making these noodles was quite simple. YouUs even mentioned a secondary option for microwaving these noodles, but I just went with the traditional route. Anyways, I hope this guide was helpful! I’ll see you tomorrow for the review.

Have you ever tried authentic Kalguksu or Yukgaejang? If so, what did you think about these dishes? What do you think about combining these two into a single dish? Let me know in the comments!
