Another delicious package of dessert almonds today with Tom’s Farm Tiramisu Almond. I know I sure do love a good tiramisu! It’s such a classic and unforgettable dessert that everyone loves, or at least I think everyone does... It also pairs well with coffee, which is my other favorite vice, second to ramen and almonds of course! I’ll never forsake my almond and ramen friends. Anyways, I’m sure you’re more than familiar with tiramisu, so there’s not much else to say. The dessert really speaks for itself. If you’re into tiramisu and love the café lifestyle, keep on reading, you won’t want to miss these special little almonds from Tom’s Farm!
Packaging:
Hell must have frozen over, because I actually didn’t get ripped off this time! This small package listed a mere 25 grams and I actually received all 25 of those grams. I’m glad I’m not missing any almonds, because there were only a total of 9 almonds in this package. This is definitely only fitting for a light snack at best!
Let’s look a little more into the label today and check out some of the artwork! There’s a giant piece of tiramisu positioned front and center in this image. We surely know we’re dealing with tiramisu now! One of the almonds is straddling a tiramisu almond, while the other inspects its insides with a magnifying glass.
I wonder what he or she is looking for?
One of the best pairings with tiramisu, coffee, can be seen throughout in the form of beans and a cup of coffee in the bottom right. The last thing that I can see are our little almond friends carefully brushing on the outer tiramisu coating on other almonds.
Is this how they make their friends?
Creepy…
Flavor:
The exterior coating is quite thick compared to several other packages of almonds from Tom’s Farm. I would say the density of the coating is at least a half centimeter wide. This is significant, because the flavoring packs much more of a punch in almonds like these. The outer coating is also waxy. It’s not a powdered dusting this time around, which makes the flavor last that much longer in your mouth. To describe the flavor a bit, it begins with a slightly bitter flavor of cocoa before transitioning into a sweet and creamy flavor that you would expect from a more pudding-like tiramisu. Within this creaminess, there’s a salty flavor that helps strengthen the overall flavor for a nice bit of added intensity. It makes the sweets, sweeter! In the final notes of the flavor, the almonds come through and round out the flavor. Overall, Tiramisu Almond is very delicious, especially when the saltiness kicks in!
Aroma:
Tiramisu Almond vaguely smells like real tiramisu to me. It has a sweet aroma that includes a chocolatey cocoa smell to it. There’s not much coffee or creaminess to the aroma. As you would expect, I can’t smell the almonds at all through the thick waxy tiramisu coating. That’s about all there is to the aroma of these simple dessert almonds.
Verdict:
Tom’s Farm Tiramisu Almond is without a doubt, one of my favorite dessert almonds out of all their almond flavors. It’s a decent enough estimation of a true tiramisu flavor, but not spot on. I’m not complaining though, these are more than tasty enough, regardless of accuracy. I can definitely recommend these almonds from Tom’s Farm. Definitely gives these a try. I had some of these delicious dessert almonds with coffee and they paired magnificently. The bitterness of the coffee and the sweetness of Tiramisu Almond are a perfect match.
Are you a fan of tiramisu? Who makes the best tiramisu you’ve ever had? What do you think would pair best with these almonds? Let me know in the comments!
